Russian nationals to pay SEK 440 and Romanian nationals SEK 60.

Those who hold passports of Afghanistan, Argentina, Bangladesh, Jamaica, Maldives, Mongolia, Mauritius, Poland, Slovak Republic, South Africa and Uruguay have to pay only SEK50 for each application.
Payments: a fee payment receipt must accompany all applications. Cash should not be sent by post. At the counter in Embassy, visa fee can be paid in cash when you apply. No cheque payments are accepted. Internet payments can be made to Embassy's bankgiro number 5816-4930. For Internet payments, applications are processed only after our bank confirms payment. Please attach Internet payment printout. Visa fee is non-refundable. IT IS NOT POSSIBLE TO PAY THROUGH CREDIT CARDS.

Fill an additional Research Visa application form. Synopsis of proposed research work, information regarding qualification, background and aims of the researcher, details about Supervisor (in Sweden), proposed time period of research and financial arrangements for research including local costs.

Application forms: Latest visa application forms can be downloaded or collected from the Embassy. Old visa application forms will not be accepted. All entries in the form must be completed. Applications can be submitted in the Embassy between 0900-1200 hrs from Monday to Friday.
Applications sent by post: Incomplete applications will be sent back without visa. Please use registered post to send passports to Embassy. Visa fee can be paid through internet or bankgiro. For internet payments, it takes four days to process visas because we wait for our bank's confirmation that payment has been made. PLEASE DO NOT SEND CASH BY POST. Please enclose a self-addressed return REK envelope with postage if Passports are to be posted back. Embassy will not be responsible if passports posted back to applicants do not reach them.
Enquiries about visa applications: Telephone enquiries about status of visa applications can be made between 1430-1530 hrs from Monday to Friday.
Foreign nationals: Those who do not hold Swedish/Latvian passports are to complete the visa application form and the Telex form (and pay an extra fee of SEK50. Processing time is one week from the date the application is received.
Children of all ages are to submit visa application form, passport, photo, pay normal visa fee to get a visa (even if their names are included in their parent's Passport).
Restricted areas: Certain areas in India are notified by the Government as protected and restricted areas. Applicants who want to visit such areas must also fill the restricted area permit form.
Transfer of visas: If applicant has a valid visa on an old/damaged passport, visa can be transferred to a new passport on payment of SEK55.
Validity of visas: Issue of visa DOES NOT guarantee the right to enter India. Final authority to allow entry into India lies with immigration authorities at the airport or place of entry in India. Visas are valid from date of issue. A visa for India is valid ONLY for entry and travel within India. Although applicants seek visas ranging from six months to five years, duration of visa granted varies, depending on rules of Government of India and discretion of the Embassy.
NOTE: If period of visa is over 180 days, all foreigners have to register with Foreigners Regional Registration Officers/Foreigners Registration Officer (FRRO) within 14 days of first arrival in India. Pakistan nationals are to register within 24 hours of arrival and Afghan nationals within 7 days of arrival, irrespective of period of visa. They will have to pay a fine of US$ 30 for failure to do so.
Processing time for issuing visas: If visa applications are complete and payment is confirmed, visa is granted between two-five days. Sometimes applicants may be asked to give additional documents or to come to the Embassy for interview by Consular Officer. Depending on duration and purpose of visit to India applications are sometimes sent to India. In such cases, processing time is between two-four months. Embassy is not responsible for any delay, if application form is incomplete or if payment is not confirmed. From October to March processing time is longer.
Collection of Passports: Once visa is given Passports can be collected from Reception in Embassy between 1600-1700 hrs from Monday to Friday. If applicant cannot collect passports from Embassy, they must send with application a self-addressed REK envelope with return postage. If passports are not collected the Embassy CANNOT SEND THEM BY POST, unless return postage is provided. Applicants may check at the Embassy whether visa stamp has correct entries of applicant and visa.
